Portage Bay
Originally designed by renowned Seattle architect Victor Steinbrueck, lead designer of the Space Needle, this Portage Bay home was built for renowned Northwest artist Alden Mason. With strong mid-century bones and a thoughtful remodel already in place, the opportunity was to create a standout guest experience rooted in story and place.
I leaned into a Mid-Century Modern lake cabin aesthetic—layering vintage, one-of-a-kind pieces to bring warmth, texture, and authenticity. Each element was chosen to feel collected over time, giving guests a space that feels both distinctive and inviting.
With views over Portage Bay and a connection to Seattle’s water culture, I incorporated subtle nods to the setting, including vintage canoe oars as sculptural wall elements.
The result is a highly differentiated STR: design-forward, memorable, and optimized to photograph beautifully, attract higher nightly rates, and elevate the guest experience.
